TKTX Black Numbing Cream

TKTX Black Numbing Cream

Black TKTX is a high-strength numbing cream designed to take the edge off uncomfortable procedures like tattooing, piercings, and laser treatments.

Black TKTX is a high-strength numbing cream designed to take the edge off uncomfortable procedures like tattooing, piercings, and laser treatments. It penetrates deeper than many alternatives to help calm nerve responses and reduce sensitivity, giving you a more comfortable experience during longer sessions.

Let your artist or practitioner know you plan to use it, and apply it well ahead of time—allow around 1.5–2 hours for full numbness, which typically lasts about 2–3 hours. As the effect fades, discomfort can return sharply, so if your appointment is still ongoing you may need to reapply. The formula is water-based, so it won’t leave skin greasy or interfere with ink application or healing; for best results, follow the directions closely and use the product within two weeks of opening.

Tattoo Numbing Cream: How to use for best results

Patch test (24 hours before)

Everyone’s skin responds differently, so a patch test is essential.

  • Apply a small amount to a small area of clean, unbroken skin

  • Leave it for the recommended time (below) and check how your skin reacts

If your patch test doesn’t numb properly, contact us before trying again. Re-testing within 24 hours without advice can reduce performance and make it harder to troubleshoot.

Before you apply

  • External use only

  • Speak to your GP/pharmacist if you’re using other medication or have any medical conditions

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before use

  • Don’t apply to irritated, infected, sunburnt, or broken skin before your tattoo

How to apply (unbroken skin — tattoo prep method)

  1. Wash hands thoroughly.

  2. If needed, remove excess hair from the area.

  3. Make sure the skin is clean, completely dry, and warm (not cold).

  4. Apply a thick, even layer (around 2–3mm) across the full tattoo area.

    • Do not rub it in.

  5. Cover with plastic film/cling film, sealed/airtight (snug, not tight).

    • Masking tape can help keep edges down on awkward areas.

    • Covering helps prevent evaporation and supports steady absorption.

  6. Wash hands again after application.

  7. Leave for 1.5–2 hours maximum.

    • Do not exceed 2 hours.

  8. Remove the film and wipe/clean the area (your tattoo artist may do this for you).

Large tattoo areas (e.g., back pieces): if practical, peel the film back section-by-section so the remaining area stays numbed for longer.

Re-application during tattooing (if needed)

To reduce infection risk, only re-apply once during the session, and only if your artist is happy for you to do so.

If re-applying during the session:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly

  2. Apply a thick layer (2–3mm) — don’t rub in

  3. Cover with film, sealed but not tight

  4. Wash hands again

  5. Leave for 15–20 minutes

  6. Remove film and wipe clean

Always read the label before using.
